TAKE ACTION CYCLE FOR RECYCLING

Will you chip in to tackle the ocean plastic crisis?

Cycle for Recycling seeks to find sustainable solutions to the plastic waste crisis in the world’s largest ocean plastic contributor, the Philippines.

THE CAMPAIGN

The first part of the campaign in 2022 saw Dana Asia CEO Duncan Power cycle 3,016km from Adelaide to Darwin to raise AU$110,000 for activities in and around Manila that target plastic waste reduction and poverty alleviation.

THE ACTION

Waste to Resource Hub

A recycling facility that turns shredded plastic into eco building materials, providing employment opportunities while promoting the circular economy.

Sustainable Microfinance

New “eco sari-sari store” loans designed to give small shop owners the capital to transition into zero-waste stores that sell essential goods as refill products instead of single-use sachets.

Eco Store Social Business

A community-based zero-waste store business model that sells basic household items without plastic packaging, lowering the cost of everyday goods for impoverished families and reducing plastic consumption within communities.

THE IMPACT over the next three years…

60 tonnes of plastic waste collected and recycled

into sustainable building materials by the Waste to Resource Hub to transform house waste management.

1.5 tonnes of plastic prevented altogether

through eco store social businesses providing low-cost basic goods to 1,000 urban poor community members without plastic packaging.

200,000 single-use sachets replaced

by refill products in eco sari-sari stores supplied by eco wholesalers to complete the green supply chain.
