Scholarships: Meet Roma
February, 2024Roma, 19, lives with her family in Calamba City, Laguna. Her parents both work in company jobs, earning a combined monthly income of around PHP 25,000 to support their household of six. Determined and ambitious, Roma is currently in her second year of a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, where she began studying in 2022. She enjoys the hands-on experiences her course offers like working with animals like cattle, chickens, and hogs and the opportunities to develop her communication and leadership skills through presentations and group projects. The Dana Asia scholarship has played a vital role in supporting both her financial and personal growth, easing her academic expenses while also providing valuable mentorship and guidance. Roma aspires to work in the government sector to contribute to the development of the agricultural industry and eventually manage her own agribusiness. She hopes to give back to her parents and community by helping strengthen the country’s agricultural sector and creating opportunities for local farmers.

“This scholarship has supported me not only financially but also mentally through its mentorship programs. It gives me the motivation and confidence to pursue my dreams of helping improve our agriculture sector and one day managing my own farm.”
