David Landers

Former Chairman

Seasoned in global markets and drawing on 25+ years’ experience in transformative leadership, corporate strategy formulation and technology innovation, David offers the clarity of vision to lead businesses into their next cycle of growth.

Using experience and networks gained from leading M&A deals for PepsiCo in Asia Pacific, fundraising and institutional fund management (emerging tech) and more recent experience brokering opportunities for Australian businesses with Austrade, David thrives in driving innovation and empowering businesses to find and embrace opportunity in disruption. Critically, this experience is enhanced by advanced strengths in organisational leadership at a global level, and extensive experience in architecting and embedding culture change.

Background

David champions a ‘general partnership’ approach, flattening out management structures and empowering people and results delivery across vast, multi-jurisdictional geographies and teams of 700+. Combined with a deep understanding of fiduciary responsibility, risk management and governance, shown in his most recent role with Austrade, holding responsibility for 80 offices and 13 consulates globally, and >20 board appointments across corporate, not-for-profits and government, David offers organisations both the boldness of novel thought leadership and safety of hand to identify, define and convert growth opportunities.

David is a deeply experienced, hands-on style board director. A Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2003, David has more than 20 appointments across corporate (US, Asia and Australia), not-for-profit (Dana Asia, Grameen Australia) and government (Council of Australian and Latin American Relations, Council of Australian and Arab Relations and the Advisory Group on Australia-Africa Relations), and Governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia.

David has a long-standing and strong personal and professional interest in neuroscience and improving mental health. He is currently giving expression to that interest through his work with Human Risk, an emerging company operating at the nexus of brain science and business, pioneering a brain-based holistic systems approach to mental health, mental capital and, more broadly, human risk that has at its core the requisite condition of organisational collective brain health.

A father to three adult children, the ocean environment is David’s passion, which he gives expression to through not-for-profit work in marine conservation and a life enriched with sailing and scuba diving.
